The Royal Horticultural Society, Award of Garden Merit has been awarded to the following Bamboos that have been judged to be of outstanding ornamental value

The Award of Garden Merit

T he RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Award for Garden Merit has been awarded to a number of bamboos for their outstanding qualities. The award is made after very lengthy assessments by the RHS and its joint and standing committees and is intended to be of practical value to gardeners.

To qualify for the A.G.M the plants must satisfy the following criteria.

• The plants must be available.
• The plants must be outstanding for garden and decorative use.
• The plant must not require highly specialised growing conditions or care.
• It must be of good constitution.
• It must not be particularly susceptible to any particular pest or diseases
• It must not be susceptible to an unreasonable amount of reversion.
