In the followingsections we have tried to offer some suggestions and ideas for various themesof gardens from the Oriental Feng Shui  or  Zen and Prairie to the Contemporary 'minimalist'styles that have become so popular in the last few years. Today particularly inthe small modern garden low maintenance, architectural planting, have becomethe key words in garden planning considerations.

Many of the plants offered from this site make excellent potplants and ideally suited to patio and courtyard gardens. Many of the bamboos on offer look stunning when planted in oriental style glazed pots and plantersof strong colours adding a different form and dimension to the garden alongwith the added grace of both sound and movement.

Most of the bamboo , ornamental grasses, sedges sold at the Potand Grass Company, unless stated otherwise, are hardy, easy to grow, lowmaintenance and versatile. There is a multitude of sizes, colours, leaf forms andtextures to choose from. There is enough variety in the cultivars and speciesto suite virtually any garden plan or scheme; no matter whether you are planning anew garden from scratch or you just need a selection to that will fitcomfortably within your existing garden layout.

Although all our plants will look very good in any gardendesign there are specific cultivars and species that are better suited toindividual styles of garden. The choice is so wide it is sometime difficult tomake an informed choice.

Oriental gardens for instance have become very fashionableoffering an exotic and sometimes romantic alternative with simple cleanarchitectural lines, strong colours and contrasting texture. Yet an Orientalgarden can be difficult to coordinate, many gardeners are unaware of the verydistinct differences in both style and philosophy of Chinese and Japanesegardens. Trying to combine the two styles rarely works.
